community
The practice has experience working on a number of community based projects.
The ‘beacon’ community project involved the design and construction of a community room extension to the existing St Aidan’s Church in Morpeth together with the refurbishment of the existing 1950’s building. The transformed building has been continually booked by community user groups since it re-opened in 2013.

The ‘open doors’ community project in the Northumbrian village of Longframlington serves a number of user groups within the village. The project involved the sensitive addition to the existing St Mary’s Church with an imaginative and contemporary design solution following consultations with the local community, English Heritage and the LPA.

Both projects follow on from the success of the award winning St Martins Centre in the Byker area of Newcastle upon Tyne. See churches category for further details.
